Where words fail, Music speaks - 16/07/2020
Cowbridge Comprehensive School Music Department are delighted to feature in the newly released single "Remember to Remember", along with Professor David Parsons and local Cowbridge group, With Music In Mind in aid of the Dementia Friendly Group.
In times of challenge and hardship, Music is always there as a source of comfort, entertainment, relaxation, healing and identity for every single person. However, Music also provides powerful rehabilitation for people suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer’s. This is why we were so excited to work on a joint project with Professor Parsons and “With Music in Mind” in aid of the Dementia Friendly Group. Our Cowbridge sixth formers rose to the challenge of learning a new song and adding their own harmonies, and showed true professionalism when recording the song in school last November. The heart-warming lyrics also resonated with everyone who participated, and the more we sang the song, the more we grew to love it!
In a time which many have found challenging over the last few months, this song shows how music and the arts can be hugely beneficial in so many ways – for improving wellbeing, for boosting creativity, for making memories with friends and for expressing that which can only be expressed through music itself. The experience of participating in this project is one which our Cowbridge pupils will always remember, and is a reminder to us all that music and the arts are so important, and must be protected for our future generations. It has also been so fulfilling to be able to address a subject close to many people’s hearts, and to participate in something so positive!
The track "Remember to Remember" can now be downloaded on iTunes, Spotify and all other major streaming devices. Please download, enjoy and share these wonderful lyrics with each other.
