Vocal Rotary Competition - 07/11/2023

Singers from Cowbridge School recently competed in the first round of the Rotary Young Musician Competition. The first round of the national competition, organised and supported by the Rotary, saw eight singers performing contrasting programmes to an audience and three adjudicators, Stephan Ulberini, Rhiannon Williams and Ellen Williams. The feedback from the adjudicators remarked on the high quality of all the performances, and the notable contribution of previous Rotary competition round winner, pianist and accompanist Annie Wright. 

The round was won by Yolay Rees-McPherson (Year 12), who performed Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Nina Simone's classic Feeling Good. Both Yolay and the runner-up, Elin Lowrie (Year 13), will perform in the next round of the competition. We wish them both the best of luck in their preparations and are very proud of all students who have contributed with such a high standard of performance as well as thank the Rotary for their continued support in providing this opportunity to students at Cowbridge School. Thank you also to Cowbridge Senior Jazz Group who entertained the audience with some foot-tapping numbers whilst the adjudicators deliberated.
