Band of the Royal Welsh Guards Visit - 07/11/2023
In partnership with Cardiff and Vale Music Service, the school welcomed forty members of the Band of the Royal Welsh Guards for workshops, presentations and a performance. Taking time out from their busy military duties, including changing of the guard and major historical events such as the Coronation of King Charles III, the musicians joined with music students from Cowbridge School for a series of rehearsals and workshops culminating in an exciting interactive performance of popular hits from film and TV. Music students were able to learn more about life as an army musician from learning to play an instrument on horseback to team building adventurous training such as sky diving and mountain biking. The day concluded with a packed hall treated to a rousing performance of a variety of film and TV hits, as well as interactive musical games and even the chance to play alongside the army musicians on a P-bone (plastic trombone).
Any students interested in learning more about careers as an army musician or interested in taking up instrumental lessons with CAVMS can speak to their music teacher to find out more.
