National Numeracy Day – 18th May 2022

18 May is National Numeracy Day, the UK’s only day dedicated to everyday maths, organised by the charity National Numeracy. It’s a day that celebrates the importance of numbers for children and adults and inspires everyone to improve their numeracy in order to open up opportunities and brighter futures.

At Cowbridge School, we have been celebrating National Numeracy Day and the importance of numbers in our lives through a number of activities:

Year 7 have been working on the Number Heroes Competition where they have been set the challenge to create a picture of their dream job or hobby, explaining how it uses numbers. You can view some of the pupils' entries here.

Our Skills Ambassadors have been interviewing school staff about how they feel about numbers and how they use it in their jobs and everyday lives. (A big thank you to Evie, Bella, Orlaith, Imogen, Peyton and Chloe for their hard work!) In addition, our business volunteer Charmain Lai from KPMG answered their questions and you can view her video here.

Year 7 form classes have been involved in the ‘Quick Number Natter’ and you can view some of their ‘Maths is….’ feelings here.
