Conduct for Success

The reason we have a focus on Conduct for Success is to allow you to focus as much as possible on fulfilling your potential. Our priority in school is to ensure that you benefit as much as you can from our fabulous teaching and learning. The more you get out of all of your lessons the more you will achieve. This will boost your confidence and help with your transition from year 6 into year 7 at Cowbridge School.

However some of the ways that we do things in Cowbridge will be different from your experiences in Primary school.

How you conduct yourself and how you behave is really important, not only in terms of how you can judge and reflect on yourself but also in terms of looking after and respecting your classmates and teachers. Working together to be the best you can be will help you enjoy school and form really positive relationships.

We follow the three simple actions of being Ready, Respectful and Safe - we also think that these are not just good ideas for your time in school but good ideas to carry out outside school too!

The poster on page 16 explains in more detail what we mean when we talk about being Ready, Respectful and Safe. We think the guidance is simple and straightforward and we also don’t expect it to take you long to learn and put into practice. This means that we will expect that you start to show how good you are at being Ready, Respectful and Safe from the moment you start year 7 with us - we will give you plenty of encouraging reminders to help it stick in your minds too.

We know lots of you will want to get it right straight away and you will be excellent role models all the way through school. We also know that young people do make mistakes and that learning to behave and follow our conduct for success might go wrong from time to time. We will always bring you back to thinking about the consistent message we give, were you being Ready, Respectful and Safe? There might be a consequence to some behaviour but there will also always be a time to reflect and put things right too.

The best thing to remember is to be Ready, Respectful and Safe as often as you can; we will always congratulate you on that and we also know that will mean that you are working to the best of your ability and doing your best to achieve to the highest standards you can!
