Careers

Cowbridge School aims to give students the opportunity to fulfil their potential in the career path they choose. We do this through a programme of activities which helps students to choose the 14-19 pathways best suited to their individual aspirations and by developing the skills which will enable them to manage their lifelong career.

We provide a programme of careers education, information, advice and guidance for all students (years 7-13) in partnership with Careers Wales and other outside agencies.

Where To Find The Careers Advisor

Clare Hawkins is the Careers Wales Careers Adviser attached to Cowbridge School Monday to Friday.

During the course of Year 11 some pupils will have a careers guidance interview, while others may only need a shorter ‘diagnostic’ interview. He may also need to contact pupils by phone or via email instead as the year progresses. Throughout the year pupils can also access Careers Wales Services.

KS3 Careers

It is never too soon to start exploring your career ideas. Maybe you don’t have any ideas. Why not visit the school library. They have a whole range of books to help you explore different career ideas.

Alternatively try looking at some of the websites below. It may help when choosing your Year 10 options pathway.

KS4 Careers

You will need to make some important choices about your future pathways. Exploring your career ideas will be really useful.

In addition to the careers activities which you’ll cover in class, in year 11 you might want to talk through your ideas and plans with a trained careers adviser. Appointments can be made by Miss White in A2A.

Sixth Form

University? Apprenticeship? Sponsored Degree? School leaver training scheme? There are a wide range of possibilities and planning your progression from the sixth form is vital. To ensure that you are kept well informed of opportunities and good sources of information the sixth form students are encouraged to access the school careers website.

Further personalised guidance is however available and students can arrange a 1:1 careers advisor talk through Mrs Pope in E1H.
